I received an unexpected call from my friend Chris at 11 am today. He's in Mesa, AZ and currently working as tier 2 support for ATT Uverse. He knows that I have Uverse since he was the one who referred me back in June 2008. He just called to inform me that the 3HD/1SD profile will soon be available for upgrade. According to Chris, UvClass 11 provides a 32Mb downstream rate with a maximum distance of 2,200 feet. Phase 1 will be rolled-out this coming Feb. 23, 2009 and they call it Release 9 Update. I asked him if THDVR phase 2 and 3 will also be rolled out but he said nothing except it's coming soon. I told him that I was participating actively in this forum and he said that they were also reading from a lot of posts here and most posts were noted. He also said that we just have to wait, more updates will be coming this 2009 including more SD and HD channels, larger storage capacity on the DVR, etc, etc. Watcha think? Are you excited? I am. VERY!!!

You're welcome. I guess you still have one month to save money for that pioneer your eyeing on RC.

Actually, I have the money for it. I was watching a program a few weeks ago that showed 3d and IMAX videos for hdtvs. They reported that the LCDs and Plasmas are not compatable right now. That the Mistubishi Diamond DLP is compatable right out of the box. Before I found out the price for the Elite had come down so much I was planning to get a Samsung DLP. Now I am doing some investigating on my own to confirm or deny the report about all 3 types of tvs. I also plan to see if the Elite is 3d/IMAX compatable, (I really hope it is). I think 3d/IMAX are the next evolution for television viewing, but will most likely be presented on blu-ray dvds. It makes since because parts of the last "Batman" movie was shot on IMAX, and it would make sense to make it available so that it could be viewed in the home.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, caring citizens can change the world: indeed it's what always does.

I agree with you. Which would you think is best, samsung or pioneer? Based on your observation. I'm planning to buy a new HDTV as well but I'm still saving for it.

I love my Samsung DLP and would recommend it to anyone. Especially for the price. Unless you need to save space (I didn't) DLP is great (especially Samsung because of the tiny bezel). The only issue was my kids scratching the screen --- right in the middle mind you --- during the first week of ownership. No amount of home remedies has fixed it, and I am not interested in purchasing a new screen
