I just spoke with a CSR and he told me that the "Credit Unknown" issue was coming from Equifax. He recommended that we contact equifax to get this straightened out. The only numbers that I have for equifax are purely automated. I ordered my credit report and it doesn't show they're inquiry, but I guess it takes a few days for it to update (they inquired on 10/12; we ordered on 10/17). He told me that there was no way that the system would let them override the unknown credit. This seems really odd that ATT would let Equifax dictate who they do business with. Thanks for the reply. I did email David yesterday. I'm trying a full court press.

Not sure if you ordered your credit report through Equifax but according to this link they offer a confirmation & phone number with the report. Supposedly you can talk to a live rep with this information from the free credit report. Equifax sure likes to keep their live rep phone number a secret with all the inquiries for it on the web. Good idea hitting this problem from all angles. edit: No such thing as a free lunch. The report may be free but it seems like the state you live in charges a fee according to this chart. Of course you probably pay this fee to Equifax and they pass it on to the state. Yeah, right. Message Edited by Uniblurb3 on 10-29-2009 10:12 PM

Credit Report Here is the details on how to get your credit reports for free. Becareful, the burueas try to upsell you on the website they provide the free one from. It is a good idea to check all three because most companies you do business with use your score to make somke kind of decision. Att is not alone in that practice; it is everything from cell phones to insurance rates.

I called equifax and they didn't have a record of ATT making an inquiry. Fascinating. It looks like the issue is with ATT. For some reason, they think they're making an inquiry, but they are not. This weekend we shopped for other cable service. I was not excited about Time Warner, so we looked at directtv. We couldn't get it because of our existing Uverse account. I emailed the CSR that has been working on my case for the past two weeks. I proposed that either we turn on the service under the old ban number and Uverse credit my account with the "non refundable" fees for unknown credit or else we set up a new account under my wife's name. She recommended we do the later. My wife called today and set up the account. They're coming out on Wednesday to set up the new service. On the upside, I've learned to resolve a lot of anger issues, read a few good books, played with my kids more than usual... This is a fix, but I don't think I would call it a solution. I'm not exactly happy that they can't fix the credit issue. And of course, I'm not exactly happy to be out of service for three and a half weeks. I appreciate everyone's help and advice.
