I had U-verse TV, internet, & phone installed late last week.  I came on this board a few weeks prior to making the final decision and wanted to thank you for helping me make the decision with your insightful and informative posts throughout this board.

I listed my reasons for selecting U-verse in another thread, so I won’t repeat here.  However, I could not be more pleased with how easy and smooth the install went.  I took advantage this weekend of five channels I could not get with TWC (NHL Net, local channel FSN Prime Ticket, NFL Net, NFL RZ,  & CSN Cali).  Also, I wasn’t expecting an increase in my internet speed, so I am surprised at how much quicker the internet is compared to TWC RR w/ turbo boost.

Like many of you, I do notice that the HD PQ is not up to snuff with what I had before.  I am using HDMI cables on two TV’s, but will try the calibration suggestion I found in another thread.  I will also check out the quality with the component cables.  However, the PQ is not enough for me to consider going back to TWC.

As final note, I will say that TWC continued to meet my low expectations by not attempting to retain me after being with them for ten plus years.  I went into their office this weekend to drop off their equipment and cancel in person.  All they did was ask why I was leaving. My response was another company and that was it.  Oh well, their loss.  My gain = U-verse!

I remember I never enjoyed anything quite so much as I did taking the equipment back to Comcast and stacking it on the counter.  They too asked why I was dropping their service and I used two sylables....U-VERSE!  That was almost two years ago.

ENJOY!

I got an ad from TWC the other day which compared TWC to U-verse.  That's the first ad I've seen mentioning U-verse, so TWC must be feeling some competition.  Their prices in my area are now virtually identical to U-verse (give or take some fine print); they used to be a lot more expensive.  TWC offers maximum 15 Mbps internet, which they claim "zooms past the competition".  So I guess in TWC-land, 15 is more than 18.  Must be the new math.

 Here's what i'm guessing:

1) TW is basing their claim off DSL's "shared" connection, whereas TW's cable line is not "shared" when the truth is that the whole internet is "shared."

I do remember a claim from way back when that said when you were online on your DSL connection, if other people were on in your area, the whole connection would slow down.

2) TW is basing their claim off the REALLY OLD-SCHOOL dialup DSL.  Remember the phone version of DSL?

Kudos!
