My DVR box keeps locking up.  I can watch it, turn it off.  Come back in 10 minutes, turn it on and it is locked up.  Power comes on but no picture.  I hold in the power button to reset it.  Works okay after that.  I must reset the box at least 4-6 times a week now, if not more.  Also I was told that changing the channel should be instaneous, a lot quicker than my Comcast box.  Even the trainer that came in noticed how slow the channels were.  Do I need a new box?  All by Att cable boxes are slow changing the channel not just the DVR.

If you don't mind losing your recorded programs, you can do the DR (Disaster Recovery).  It will erase your recorded programs.

 

 

If you can't see the screen on the TV, press the On/Off button in and at the same time, hold the OK and Down buttons in; keep holding until all three lights in front (green, blue, red) light up, flash, then release all 3 buttons at once.  It will go through the same process as above and takes a while.

 

If that doesn't work, call tech support as you may need a new DVR.

 

Many have complained about the remote's response being slow, some say the DVR is slower than the STBs, but I haven't noticed it.

Going to the restart option in the menu won't do a DR. The only way is by going up to the STB.

That is what the tech did here yesterday, remote only, no button pressing; and he said it was the way to do DR if you have a screen up.  The times I have done DR at the DVR, it has never erased my recorded programs...so did I get WRONG ADVICE again from a tech?

No, going to the screen choice does a normal restart. I guess the tech was wrong.

Or maybe I misunderstood--I was pretty fired up yesterday!
