It's getting pretty anoying that every time that I'm watching something and it's going to commercials the image and sound freezes the last 2 seconds before the commercial, the same happens between commercials, so I can't even enjoy a full commercial without freezing and skiping the last 2 seconds, is this normal or its just me?
It's even more frustrating when trying to listen to the commentaries on a football game before commercials and gets cut becouse of this problem.
Any comments or solutions?? Thanx

I get that also, only on CBS. It's reall t pissing me off. I had my cable box replaced and it still does it. The tech said it was the CBS feed.

Mine did the same thing yesterday while watching the Cowboys game.  I don't think that it did it when I was watching 60minutes after the game.  Something screwy about the game broadcast and the way the att box handles it.  What kind of signal is being sent when a commercial begins?  Seems like the box is getting some sort of trigger that causes the skip...

It's the switch between 16:9 HD and 4:3 SD.  For some reason the box takes a few seconds to make the shift, either at the head end or locally at our boxes.  Hopefully it will be fixed along with the plethora of other glitches in a future software update.

Happens to me aswell but as has already been stated it only happens when HD goes and SD comes so its not a biggy im sure it will be fixed.

It's weird because I had never noticed this until about a week ago...maybe I just didn't watch that much on the HD channels other than movies.

 


I have no patience for the lazy and complacent society that we have become. Make an effort to fix it, or don't complain.

I don't think it is the switch from 16:9 content to 4:3 content, as the box isn't actually doing anything when that happens.  I think it is when the S/PDIF chip has to change output formats is where the problem occurs.

My U-Verse was installed on 01/11. It's been good, except for the "image freeze." I've noticed it only on one channel (I think it might have been CBS?), and it only happens on my set with the DVR.

I've read a lot of threads about picture freezing and pixelation that seem to be explained by a combination of bad wiring (inside or outside), high error rates in the rg (probably also caused by faulty wiring) and switches back and forth from HD to SD.  However I wasn't able to find any threads about portions of the channel guide and/or the text to the right of the PiP being blacked out, literally with a black box present instead of the guide text.  This has happened to me twice and is corrected by rebooting the dvr-stb.  Has anyone else seen this and do you have an explanation for what causes it?
