Just got this email from support when I complained about my DVR interface which becomes very slow to respond to input. Now I'm just plain frightened of putting up with this for months to come. I reboot it and it becomes responsive enough for me, but after a day or so of use, it's back to lagging. This makes searching for shows a big PITA.... How many people out there have this problem? I don't see anything in the message boards and I would think there would be because this is the WORST part about U-Verse.... From AT&T: "Unfortunately, a slow or intermittently responsive DVR is a known issue. We are working diligently to resolve this issue, but currently there is no estimated time of resolution."

I experienced it yesterday while channel changing; then a channel froze, DVR froze, and turned itself off/on, and restarted itself (with all 3 lights on front flashing). After that, the Search feature has been painfully slow. Tier 2 didn't have an answer for me as to WHY it happened, and suggested a DR (Disaster Recovery), which I am not doing until I watch my recordings (DRs will erase your recordings); and I've been to this rodeo before and doubt it will resolve anything. The tech did seem to hint that in a couple of months this issue should be resolved? So maybe that means another major firmware update is in the works?

That's EXACTLY what happened to me last night...although, after the unplanned reboot...it was better....bummer that yours was worse... I may try the DR....will let you know how that goes.... do you know the exact instructions to do that?

And it WILL ERASE YOUR RECORDINGS on the DVR, if you have any.

I go through the box lag and the HD/and SD pixcilation every single day. I've especially noticed this happening during peak hours of 5-8 pm when everyone is home. Gee, do I detect a bit of COMCAST service problems? There is a definite problem with the streaming of programs. I have entire pictures pixcilate and programs that record nothing. I have I've fired off a letter of service grievances to the head rep in Oakland California to see of she responds. I've gotten extremely tire of the service techs going through the same steps to clear it up. Restart the box, clear the Gateway. I can do that myself. Unfortunately, the telephone techs seem to be scared of sending the call to a level 2 technician. I 'm just biding my time with U-verse. The HD receptions stinks - No wonder they offer a year free service. At least I see that I am not alone in any of these problems. Oh, and one more thing. The U-verse reps said that my package 400 with DSL pro would be a total billed package in one (no double bills from UVerse and ATT both) WRONG! I paid for the PRIVILEGE of using their Gateway and their 3mb download speed. I get billed separately by ATT for local and long distance calls. That adds anothr 40 bucks a month to the 119 buck package. I am ready to disconnect myself completely with UVERSE until they resolve there issues. Sorry for going on and on.

Well, it's my understanding that is what Tier II is for, to step in when Tier I can't solve a problem? If Tier I doesn't satisfy you, then request Tier II if they won't automatically transfer you--and as irritating as it is, you need to call each time to report a problem or ATT will think all is well (and you have no problems)-- And depending on your unresolved problem, Tier II will give you a direct number to them, with a special code good for a week at a time-- If you're on the FCL (Frequent Caller List), then you'll automatically get sent to Tier II (from Tier I) as they get a popup on their screen to do so-- I'm sending you a Code for Tier II now via PM--let us know if that works ;-)

Oh and they didn't lie to you about the combined bill. The TV and DSL are combined bill, but the phone is still seperate.
I have no patience for the lazy and complacent society that we have become. Make an effort to fix it, or don't complain.
