I'm trying to find actual literature on this but I just heard that "Max 18" Uverse DSL is rolling out in November. Not sure of the restrictions as far as availability but heard pricing will be $65/month. If I get more information I will share.

That would be pretty cool, although I already think I'm paying too much for the current Max.

Yeah the $20 jump from Elite to Max is too much for many people. If I already had Max then I would easily spend $10 more for the Max 18. Who knows I might make the switch anyways (have Elite now). I'd be interested to know what the upload speed will be.

That pretty much explains my feelings as well.

When I ordered, I had a choice of four Internet speeds. The first three tiers are $5 different from each other with the "Max" tier being $20 different from the previous one.  While the Max tier is a 4 Mbps jump (higher than the others), the previous tier was a 3 Mbps jump -- "Max" just doesn't seem cost effective at $20 more.

I am very tempted with the higher speeds and the lure of 18 Mbps has my mouth watering.  I'm just having trouble with the pricing structure of all this.

Of course it isn't entirely clear with the new 18 Mbps offering if the price structure will be tweaked at all.  I guess we can hope!

Advanced TV This would be the only thing I have been able to find on it. No pricing info at all. What is the Source for your info?

Yes a $10 higher price for max18 would be uncompetitive and would either mean an increased profile with limited availability or dynamic bandwidth shared with TV. Without a Substantially higher upload speed not something I would pay more for.

With the recent change to the ToS they would provide a guaranteed 10Mbs down up to 18Mbs for that tier. I would think it would only be available to those with a 25Mbs profile though.

They're already offering deals to switch to a higher HSI for 6 mos. and have lowered the price, so maybe they'll be lowering the fastest speeds as well?  We can hope!

Well let’s just hope your source is wrong about the pricing. If they keep the profile at 25 max18 would be no better then Comcast power boost. I can now get Comcast blast 16/2 for 52.95 why would I pay ATT 65 for garneted 10 and sometimes faster when my TV's aren’t on max18?

Right now down speed is not an issue; it’s the up speed I would like to see faster. If they offered a 10/5 or 18/6 speed I would be willing to pay an extra $5 or $10.

AT&T is in a bad position right now; they have cool features that no one is willing to pay extra for. Not to mention every one I know came over to AT&T because it saved them a few bucks.

So you think a $10 increase for a jump from 10 to 18Mbs is not worth it? I realize you would like more upload speed but only a VERY small percentage of users need/want faster upload speeds. I don't see how the pricing could be better.

I also thought that Comcast's speeds weren't consistent (or even close to consistent).

No $10 for 8mg of speed is not bad if its dedicated bandwidth and you could use that extra speed. What I am saying is $65 is too much for 18/1.5 especially if that bandwidth is shared with your TVs. Also it is very hard with today’s average upload speed to saturate my 10MB connection so I can’t really use that extra speed.

Yes Comcast in some areas is an inferior connection. But a 52.95 16/2 with power boost inconsistent connection makes Max18’s shared with TVs bandwidth for $65 look uncompetitive to me. I see AT&T as the value player matching Comcast and offering max18 at max10 price and moving the bottom tier to pro speed.
