I wish I could have DSL back. The area we moved to only has fiberoptic cable, or so I was told. This is in Spring, TX. I have unplugged all of my 2.4 mg telephones, however, I am lucky to get on the internet, or once I do, to stay connected. I have had a tech out here since the install and asked could we please NOT be wireless and go with a jack and Line. He said the wireless is fine. I am so unhappy with U-verse internet. I have ordered Comcast cable equipment, however my new home is completely wired and someone will have to come out to our main network box and configure the cable line in my home for Comcast. I download a lot of 3d products which I purchase. If I can get on, then I can't stay on long enough to connect to the next site or to download my product. It is very frustrating. I am going to try to give U-Verse one more shot and tell them I need modems or whatever to be directly connected to the wall and all three of my home computers. This has been one unhappy experience to say the least. I read on another board where I could go to test my speed. I could not even get the website to come up. The hour glass just sits there and rotates, which is what I see most of the time using U-verse. I just wondered if anyone else is having problems in Spring, TX. It's funny...before our house was completed, I had read enough about U-verse that there was no way I would get it. DSL was great and if it sent down, I would usually just reboot my HomePortal and we would all be set and we were wireless!!!! I had no idea I would be forced to get either U-verse or Comcast. Jan PS. I finally got to do a Speed Test and my results are still loading after 1 minute ok...here it is

There will be others that give you better advice on here, but when I was having this same problem, I played with the wireless channels in the 2 wire gateway and finally found one that was rock solid. If you know how to get to your gateway interface, you will be able to change those settings. But you will most likely have to plug a cat5 cable directly to the gateway to get it done if your still having issues with your wireless. The portal interface is http://192.168.1.254. Go to your wireless settings and put in the password that is on your gateway labeled network password. On that page you will be able to change your channel settings for the wireless network.

I am in Spring, TX and have had no problems so far. You have to understand that what you are seeing is not normal, and you may have to get pushy and mean with the techs to get them to understand this. Don't be discouraged about the things you read about Uverse. Most of the time, the customers who are happy with their service never even show up on these forums. The only things you usually see on here are people who have had problems or are suggesting new things to be added/changed. I would give the previous posters fix a try, because if it is your phones that are interfering with your wireless internet, this should fix the problem. And if it's not your phones that are causing the problem, then atleast you will be able to tell the techs that it is something on their end of it for sure. What level of Uverse Intenet do you have? I'm assuming (hoping) its express from your connection tests. Do you have any computers that are hardwired, or are they all connected wirelessly? If there is one hardwired, do you see the same problems on it as you do on the others that are wireless? If this is the case, the tech may have been right when he said that the wirless is fine, it may be a problem somewhere else in your setup.
I have no patience for the lazy and complacent society that we have become. Make an effort to fix it, or don't complain.

Thank you so very much to each of you for responding. I just cannot remember if it is Elite or what type of service. I run DSL at my office through a server and have 12 computers using the same line. It is lightning fast for all of us. That was the way it was at home. I have 2 laptops and 1 desktop at home, all wireless. When the tech came out again last week, he said there was nothing wrong. I told him that I didn't wan't to be wireless because I believe there are too many interferences around us, including a new type of steel, I believe, being used in our roof. I don't know what to do. I demand to go with non-wireless and he disagrees....I had to look up an emergency # on the internet and it took me 15 minutes to finally stay connected long enough to get a #. Well, I have unplugged my telephone two days ago and still no change. I am VERY frustrated!!!!

That speed test is not normal. Here is one that I just ran:
Have you ran more tests to see if it is consistently like that?

The one thing I will say about the wireless interference. Even if you are not using your phones or they are off, or like in my case no phones at all in the home other than cell phones, your neigbors wireless devices will interfere as well. Homes are so close together these days and will cause you issues. Try changing the channels and then do the speed tests. Rinse and repeat and try again. I think you will eventually find a channel that works solid for you. I don't remember if it was on uverseusers.com or this board, but some people actually suggested and posted the Mhz list for each channel and the ones that are best to try? Maybe someone could post those here if you have it readily available?

Koolkid, that speed test is only normal if she has express right? If she has pro or elite, it should be way over that. Don't let the tech tell you that you are wrong, when you call to schedule a tech to come out this time, make sure you tell them exactly what is going on before hand. Call tech support while the in home tech is there if he tries to fight you about it. If you want a hardwired computer, he can't tell you no. That is part of a standard install and is free of charge. The extra hard wired computers may cost extra, but he still can't tell you no. If that's what you request then that is his JOB. It's cases like yours where I wish that I could personally call and yell at the tech for bein an idiot. If you have to get mean, do it. They are there to do there job, not to tell you that you are imagining having slow internet.

I was actually looking at the upload speed. All U-verse packages get 1Mb/s upload.

I am putting in a call today to get hard-wired. I do believe you have a point about neighbors wireless phones. There is another board I just joined. I have read where there are others in my same neighborhood who have or have ordered U-Verse. I didn't get the television part because my hubby is a big NFL TICKET guy and you know what that means...Direct TV...No matter what... I will let you guys know what happens!!! Gosh, right now, being bad at work and using the same DSL line thru a point to point T-1 line which the other end is at the other office a mile down the road and there are many of us using the same DSL line, I have 5 internet screens open and some of them have more than one tab open.............That was what I was used to at home as well!!!
